occupying the space of opposition

It has been 31 days since Donald Trump took office and began to keep his promises to systematically destroy the United States for the benefit of those who need no help amassing power and riches, and in that time there has not even been token resistance from the Democratic Party.

Instead of wielding the same set of procedural weapons that have been used against them to grind confirmation hearings for cabinet secretaries, ambassadors, and other political appointees to a halt, they have done nothing.

Instead of waging rhetorical war on the airwaves and the Internet, they have said nothing.

Instead of shutting down Congress by denying a quorum, they have preemptively complied with the destruction of the Constitution they have sworn to defend.

But above all, they have occupied the space of opposition, preventing anyone else from doing any of these things, and more.

While Mitch McConnell’s place in Dante’s Ninth Circle is already prepared and waiting for his immanent arrival, the bolgias of the Eighth Circle’s Malebolge are likewise set to accommodate the rest of the 118th and 119th Congress’ fraudulence in their duty.

Too bad for us, who will suffer in life and still be denied the pleasure of witnessing their eternal damnation.
