One would hope that years from now we aren’t looking back on this day with a sense of failure. Domestic spying has traditionally been a benchmark of a government with too much power over the people who empower it. The creation of the National Security service certainly has the potential to become this country’s first domestic “secret police” if allowed to pursue its natural course.
What amazes me is that our managers continue to cleave to the idea that asymmetric non-governmental network tribes can be combated with large, rigid, hierarchical, control-centric organizations made up of those who have profited their whole lives by never coloring outside the lines.
