London, again

The Guardian is reporting more bombs in the London Tubes. This is interesting as it makes the local terror intensify in the pattern of the D.C. Sniper – dull, disruptive, numbing of the local inhabitant’s desire to travel. In Washington, this meant targeting people at gas pumps and mall parking lots, in London this means the Tube. ( granted, the D. C. Snipers weren’t terrorists, per se, just your ordinary run of the mill American sociopaths )

What will be interesting to see is if this can be drawn out for weeks or months, the way the IRA was able to mount a lasting campaign of disruption in the 70s and 80s, or if the U.K. government’s shirking of anonymity has the effect of making it easier to catch a serial bomber. On the other hand, this could be (and likely is) a group independent from the original, yet ideologically aligned. Finding the ‘six-degrees of terror’ between them – that well connected hub that inspires them – might not be enough to solve the cipher of prediction.
