changing the rules

Seth Godin has a post about how the market leader sets the rules of the game up so that they will always win. (_Well, yeah._) He then goes on to say that changing the rules is the only way to win.

This is essentially Godel restated and something I’ve been saying for years: if a closed system can’t be understood internally (Godel’s incompleteness proof) but can be understood by transcending the system, then any competitive game can be won by breaking the rules (transcending the system).

It is sort of the mathematical enunciation of the “check your premises” commandment wherein you restate what it is that you believe to be true until the reality is matched by the theory. Very linear, non-contradictory, and causal.
